CRAZY Dogs in the lake STORY with a GREAT ENDING!

Helena native Bob Gist is a hero! Bob, who now resides in Jonesboro and runs a successful State Farm insurance biz, headed down to Grenada, Ms to do some crappie fishing with a friend on Lake Grenada. Bob, his friend and their fishing guide shoved off in their boat to spend the day fishing on the huge lake which is close to a mile and a half or more wide at some points.

As they were heading across, they saw a bunch of dogs swimming in the lake. These dogs were so far out the three men figured they needed to check on them. Reaching the dogs they realized there were dogs everywhere.

They could tell the dogs were in distress. Where the heck did all these dogs come from and how did they end up in the middle of the lake

Turns out the dogs were a part of a Fox Run being held at Lake Grenada. They all had large numbers painted on their sides and were wearing expensive E-collars. Unfortunately, the dogs jumped a deer while on the fox run. The deer jumped into the lake and started to swim across. The dogs followed the deer. The dogs got so far out in the lake they lost sight of the shore line and didn’t know which way to swim. They were just paddling around in circles.

That’s when Bob and his crew went to work and began pulling dogs out of the water. They loaded their boat with as many dogs as they could get and headed to the shore where their frantic owners were waiting.

They went back and got as many of the dogs left in the lake as they could find and returned to the lake shore. They couldn’t see anymore dogs but an owner approached them and asked if he could get in the boat with them as he had GPS tracking that showed he still had four dogs out in the lake. So off they went. By the time they got to the exhausted dogs, they could barely swim. Bob told me they grabbed the last four dogs as they were sinking under water. Wow! Bob, his friend and the fishing guide were able to save every dog, a total of 38 dogs. 38 DOGS! By the time they got the last dogs, the K-9s had been treading water for an hour.

I believe God puts people in the right place at the right time. Thank God Bob and his crew were there or this story could have had a tragic end.

If you know Bob, reach out to him and tell him thanks for his heroic actions that day. Below is a picture of Bob bringing in a load of dogs. The pic was taken by one of the many grateful dog owners.
