My mother was a swimmer In high school and a coach as well. She may not have been an amazing swimmer but she has a pure love for the sport. It was her example that made me want to coach. She passed away this summer from Brain Cancer and I found this poem she wrote at the beginning of her swimming career in high school (1980).
I thought I would share it with the swim coaching community.

Bonus: Ode to Water by Daniel K. Fritz

Dan Fritz was a swimmer for Northwestern University in the early 1980s and now is an attorney in the Chicago area and also swims marathon distances. We're reaching out to him now, seeking permission to keep this in our collection.
Another poem from a young women who swims, written while in the 10th grade, was published at SwimSwam. https://swimswam.com/ocean-or-a-puddle-a-poem/
